This is the gatehouse for an old Priory not far from Castle Rising, now part of private drive with no through traffic for bikes.

All that remains of West Acre Priory, now an imposing entrance to a private driveway.

A chalk stream, the River Nar flows for just 15 miles from Mileham in Norfolk to meet the Ouse at Kings Lynn. Here the river passes by Nar Valley Fisheries, coarse fishing lakes.

The 14th century gatehouse is almost all that remains of Pentney Abbey. It is now a unique wedding venue. Many of the houses in Pentney, as well as Abbey Farm were built using stone from the main priory which was built in the early 12th century.

A beautiful village, clustered around a pretty central green dominated by the ruined remains of the Priory Gatehouse. Sitting in the node of numerous footpaths and bridleways, it's a great place to start and finish adventures, or simply to slow down and stop as you journey through. There's no shop, but there is a small local pub (The Stag) that has somehow managed to avoid gentrification, and of course, Duration Brewery is opening their own taproom soon!
