5月 2, 2025, Timeloberg Memorial
Four days before the official day of Germany's surrender on May 8, 1945, the partial surrender here marked the end of the most horrific war in human history. On Victory Hill, at around 6:00 p.m. on May 4, 1945, Bernard Montgomery announced the unconditional end of World War II for the northern part of Germany.

A place of reflection and remembrance. Just stop for a moment. Especially at this time, thanks to Putin!

History to experience and touch. There is also a very informative leaflet on site. Especially at this time, just pause and think about Mr. Putin1

Here you can feel the breath of history. The actual place is on the military training area and not accessible.

Near Lüneburg, on the Timeloberg near Wendisch Evern, on May 4, 1945, the end of the Second World War in Europe and with it the liberation from the Nazi tyranny began. Here a delegation from the High Command of the Wehrmacht signed the unconditional surrender of all German troops in Holland, northwest Germany, Schleswig-Holstein and Denmark to the British army command under Field Marshal Bernard L. Montgomery. The ceasefire took effect on May 5 at 8:00 a.m. In the Netherlands and Denmark this day is still a commemorative day or a national holiday. The Timeloberg was deliberately chosen for the formal act of partial surrender. From this highest point in the vicinity of Lüneburg one looked down on the towers of a defeated German city. Field Marshal Montgomery therefore called the hill "Victory Hill". From here the German delegation went on to the American headquarters in Reims and then, on May 8, 1945, to the Soviet headquarters in Berlin-Karlshorst. The partial capitulation on the Timeloberg can therefore be seen as the introduction to the German total capitulation. https://www.wendischevern.de/gedenkort-timeloberg/startseite.html

Here you can empathize with a significant part of world history. Amazing how little known the place is. In addition, there is great nature and a view of the distant Lüneburg, you can see the central building of the university and the tower of the Johanniskirche in the distance.
