Good trail

Great place for some XC mountain biking. Nothing very extreme so really good for Beginners or youngsters. If you're looking for hardcore downhill or bike park Wales-type trails you'll be disappointed as there is not much in the way of elevation. Cafe on-site and a bike shop too with a jet wash to clean your bike off after your ride. Can get very busy at weekends.

Did this in torrential rain, deep puddles, the sandy gets everywhere , covered in it from head to toe, wet sand and disc brake pads are bad combo.

Thieves Wood provides the scenery for an exciting day out with a walking trail that starts from the car park, offering easy access into the wood.

Good mtb n gravel trails nice cafe

Now renamed the "Outlaw Trail", the very last section has been remodelled as the start of the Blue (renamed "Robin Hood Adventure Trail") in the opposite direction.

A really nice red trail with nothing to technically, a fair amount of work has been done recently lots of new and upgraded berms now. If you want a longer ride join the blue trail, at the time of writing this the blue trail is being upgraded although not fully open yet. Finally if you go looking there is plenty of off piste.

Keep out of Norman’s wood though 🤣

Features now restored in the middle of the wood, including small gap-jumps with chicken line, flowing great (April 2022).

Large & Free car Park off the main road, perfect place to enjoy miles of natural singletrack. Linking with Harlow & Cauldwell there's enough to explore without leaving the woods. The only tarmac is crossing the main road which splits them.

Our official end to the Red as we don't bother with the last two grindy sections, give it some beans so you are up to full speed before the right hook, then pump the berms, then a small climb and trundle up the fire road to the café for a coffee and their legendary bacon cobs

Unfortunately the Forestry Commission have been into Watchwood and removed all the man-made features (jumps) from the downhill runs. However the trails are still rideable & fun, plenty of berms still in place. (July 2021)

Great alternative to Sherwood pines - smaller but still some nice walks and bike trails. Plenty of free parking too.

Great route - not mega difficult but fun enough.

Walking trails, picnic benches and a definite folklore ambience await at Thieves Wood. Once the hunting ground of robbers and highwaymen and with associations to folklore legend Robin Hood, if the trees could talk, they'd surely have great tales to tell. There's a refreshment cabin at the car park for that all important refuel after a ramble.

@Henry - The original Watchwood Berms were damaged, but now there are currently two new routes "Hanah" & "No Dig No Ride" as well as "Potato Gallery, Jim'll Fix It, Lumberjack Alley, Who's the Daddy, Drop in Boost". There are two straight trails to bring you back up from the bottom to the top again. The start at the concrete Trig point has the big drop in it.

Not a bad section to start with. Not very long and nothing very difficult. Does puddle a bit after heavy rain. Good for anyone looking to step up from blue graded trails.
