An excellent cafe stop before or after visiting the historic castle which is not far from here.

Amazing! I wasn't expecting such a castle in the middle of Newark when cycling through.👍 Looks like it would be well worth a visit if you have time.

Riverside Park hosts a range of local events, from music concerts to food fairs and funfairs. It also contains a number of pieces of public art including a gnomon sundial, great views back onto the castle and a walk alongside the River Trent.

Combine a visit to the castle with a picnic, watching the Trent roll by. There are lots of quiet lanes approaching from the south.

Newark Castle ruins are set in lovely, formal gardens bordered by the remaining walls of the castle which was partly destroyed in 1646 at the end of the English Civil War.

Newark Castle has weathered many historic storms. Really nice place by the river to stop mid ride.

Flat piece of road that runs alongside the Trent. Newark town centre can be busy with cars so take care.

Old ruins of Newark Castle.

Good market set in the picturesque town of Newark. Nice buildings and lots of stalls selling a wide range of items.

Very impressive ruins of an important (in its time) castle. Can enter the castle park (no cycling) for free to see some of the remains.

Newark’s market place is overlooked by the Georgian Town Hall. The town has become famous for its six annual antiques fairs, held at Newark County Showground, and thousands of antique hunters from across the world descend on the fair’s 4,000 stalls in search of a bargain.
