Take the mtb route up/down through the wood to the North East of the statue, look out for it near the bench on the main gravel track

The Parish Church was probably built in the late part of the 12th century, possibly on the site of the church hinted at in Domesday, the earlier building most likely of wattle and daub. The present church has traces of Norman work in the north and east walls which are two and a half feet thick. It is built of local limestone, with stones of handy sizes not laid in horizontal courses. Originally it was a plain rectangular building consisting of chancel, nave and a small tower. At some time in the XIV century a south aisle was added, and in the next century the porch was built. At the same time as the porch another stage was added to the tower, which is square, pinnacled, and unbuttressed. At some later date the porch was moved from the south to the north side of the church, its old position still clearly marked on the outside of the south wall. Another alteration visible from the exterior, and also on the south, is the blocked up 'Priest's Doorway' in the south wall of the chancel.

Sutton Colliery was also known as Brierley Colliery, most likely due to the Staffordshire miners who moved from the Brierley Hill area. Today Sutton Colliery has become Brierley Forest Park, which is a haven for wildlife offering nature walks through woodlands, wetlands, and meadows.

This lake is a picturesque rest stop on a bike ride, especially scenic in spring with blooming wildflowers. It's thought to be the highest point in Nottinghamshire, and has a wide gravel track going through for easy access.

From this lovely wide gravel track you are afforded lovely views across the Nottinghamshire countryside toward Underwood and Felley.

Linby is a charming village located near the larger town of Hucknall. It features several notable buildings, including a 12th-century church, and features many quaint stone cottages and green spaces to enjoy.

Take a seat on the bench and enjoy far-reaching views across the superb countryside surrounding this area.

Pleasley Pit Country Park is a nature reserve and historical site located on the Derbyshire-Nottinghamshire border. It was once the site of Pleasley Colliery, a coal mine that operated from the mid-19th century until it closed in 1983. The park is home to a café, lake and pleasant walking trails.

The railways here finally closed in 1978, since then nature has taken over and more recently the tracks have been turned into trails. The Teversal Trail that crosses this old bridge is a circular route following these old lines along the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border.

Hardwick Hall estate is a vast and impressive estate with a great legacy. It was once occupied by Lady Margaret Spencer, who was the wife of the 1st Earl Spencer of Althrop back in the eighteenth century and was passionate about her walks and gardens. The late Princess Diana of Wales is a descendant of Lady Spencer. Originally, this was a short walk that has now been extended and takes you on a nice tour of the woodland and gardens of the estate.

St John the Baptist's Church, Ault Hucknall, is a Grade I listed parish church in the Church of England in Ault Hucknall, Derbyshire. The church dates from the 11th century with 14th- and 15th-century features. It was restored between 1885 and 1888 by William Butterfield.
