Cute village felt like an lovely escape from any hustle and bustle , 1 cafe was located by the water but was closed when we passed (30/12/23)

This Tower was built in memory of Francis Egerton, who was the Third Duke of Bridgewater. Egerton was an expert in inland navigation. He was involved in the construction of the Bridgewater Canal (joining Worsley and Manchester), which is the first modern British canal. He also built the canal joining Liverpool and Manchester. Not only that, but he made 2 million pounds out of these adventures and ventures. Be sure to walk up to the top of the Tower. The views from up there are tremendous.

The views are spectacular in all directions as you run along this elevated section of the Ridgeway National Trail. The route follows the ancient Iron Age earthworks of Grim’s Ditch. Pitstone Hill is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to the biological and botanical interest of the area. The chalky slopes are home to several important species of rare plants and butterflies.

This Grade I listed church in Drayton Beauchamp is known for its stunning medieval stained-glass windows and impressive exterior. The church is surrounded by beautiful nature and farmland filled with sheep, birds, and cattle.

Enjoy a glorious run through Tring Park, a grassy parkland and Site of Special Scientific Interest situated on the Chiltern ridge within the Chiltern Hills AONB.

This is a wonderful section of running along a gravel path that squeezes between the Grand Union Canal and Marsworth Reservoir. The views along this stretch are simply superb, they feature colourful canalboats, flowing reeds, and lakeside bathers making the most of the sunshine.

This bench with a view across Startop's End Reservoir makes the perfect pit stop to catch your breath and enjoy some lakeside vistas.

Drayton Beauchamp has some of the best medieval stained glass in the county, in its E window. It dates from around 1450 and shows 10 Apostles together with the Apostles Creed. A beautiful grade 1 listed building in the village of Drayton Beauchamp. St. Mary’s is a Festival Church, which means that is not now used for weekly worship Services, but continues to function as a Parish Church, holding a minimum of six Services a year.

The lion was carved into the hills overlooking Dunstable Downs close to Whipsnade Zoo in 1931-33. Some say it was to remind pilots not to fly too low when crossing the zoo so they didn't scare the animals. Others believe that it was an elaborate advert. In 2017/18, the lion was refurbished with a donated 800 tonnes of chalk so now it can be appreciated from quite some distance.
