An amazing place, not too much to see, brilliant view from the top, have a guided tour to understand why it was here and what it was like back in the day.

Opened in 1894, Central Park is an area of outdoor space designed for all to enjoy in the centre of Chelmsford. Backing onto the River Can, it has areas of grass for relaxing as well as formal planting. There's also a playground and cafe.

Great service and quick! The hill back up is a wonderful! (Watch out if u have Angina!)

Hanningfield Reservoir is celebrated for its significant wildfowl populations and serves as a sanctuary for nature and wildlife. It’s an ideal destination for a day out, offering a range of attractions including the Café on the Water, a gift shop, a play park, fishing opportunities with an on-site tackle shop, picnic areas, and scenic woodland walks. Visitors can also explore the Essex Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre and nearby nature reserve. With convenient road access and free parking, Hanningfield provides something for everyone to enjoy.

It's great for walking or cycling. Saturday mornings there is a regular park run event. Sadly the mobile cafe no longer sites at the car park after the council refused them further permissions.

Excellent Tea Room overlooking the lock. Excellent cake and light snacks. Toilets.
