The Schulensmeer is the largest inland lake in Flanders. Numerous benches invite you to take a break.

You feel the peace here, especially when you're on the other side and can admire the horses and sheep nearby in the beautiful open countryside. I'll definitely come back here for a walk. Wonderful 😎

The Herkenrode Abbey site is an interesting combination of culture, history, nature and an ideal starting point for walks.

Until September 2019, the bridge at Stokrooie was a concrete girder bridge over the Albert Canal. The bridge is part of the N729 regional road. Previously, the canal could be crossed via an arch bridge that was built in 1937, but it was destroyed during the Second World War. After this, a temporary bridge was built, which was later replaced by a concrete girder bridge. In October 2017, work started on a new steel arch bridge over the Albert Canal. This had been parallel to the concrete girder bridge since March 2019. In September 2019, the old girder bridge was demolished and the new bridge was put into use. After this, the canal underpass was widened from 50 metres to 86 metres.

The bridge connects the forests of Hees with Lobos castle and Loboshoeve.
