Pretty small town, plenty to do in summer

This stele pays tribute to the greatest cycling champion of the 19th century: Eddy Merckx. It stands at the top of the Stockeu. It is included in the course of the Liège-Bastogne-Liège cycling race every year. Eddy Merckx climbed it several times and won Liège-Bastogne-Liège five times.

This square commemorates the heavy fighting on December 18, 1944, which involved the bridge and the control of Stavelot. Fierce Allied resistance helped slow the German advance. Ultimately, the Allies succeeded in holding the bridge and repelling the German attacks.

WWII memorial to the 131 fighters who were shot here by the hordes of Von Rundstedt. Each strategic village in the area has its own Ardennes Offensive story with the associated memorials and monuments.
