The church of Wommersom, on the right bank of Geta, is first mentioned in 1036 in the foundation act of the Chapter of Incourt in Walloon Brabant. Among the various properties with which the new chapter was endowed was "Wolmeris, cum dimidia ecclesia, que jacet in comitatu Brunengurt." From 1241 onwards, the patronage and tithes were held by the Abbey of Vrouwenpark in Rotselaar. In 1635, the church and rectory were destroyed by fire. Presumably during the same period, the church and rectory were enclosed from the street side with a wrought-iron fence with brick pillars, now largely removed except for a few fragments.
