A picturesque sunken road starts in the hamlet of Mollendaal, at the Rachierhof. 300 meters further is the St. Bernard Chapel. This fairly large chapel is accessible from the Oude Geldenaaksebaan via a stone staircase of 20 steps. The chapel was built by Remy Bosmans in 1896, as appears from the inscription “RBM / CLW / 1896”. The current owner is the Denonville family. The chapel also contains statues of Saint Anthony and the Sacred Heart. The statues of St. Egidius and St. Rita have been stolen. On the wall a text by Jos Beel regarding commemoration of 900 years of St Bernard, reformer of the church and worshiped by farmers against diseases of their livestock. Saint Bernadus was / is worshiped by the farmers against diseases of their livestock. The chapel of Bernadus is quite large and can be reached from the Oude Geldenaaksebaan with a stone staircase of 20 steps. The chapel was built by Remy Bosmans in 1896. On the wall, next to the door, there is a text by Jos Beel regarding. commemoration of 900 years of St Bernard. A relaxing location with beautiful views. Some primitive couches invite you to linger.
