This year, the globe celebrates its 35th anniversary. The spherical vessel was painted like a globe by architect Ortwin Deroo in 1993. It was renovated in 2017. The water tower itself was built in 1969 by the Ateliers de Construction de Jambes. The steel water tower with its spherical crown is 29 meters tall. The tower has a capacity of 500m³ of water and provides drinking water to approximately 5,000 households in Bierbeek, Lovenjoel, Kessel-Lo, Lubbeek, Blanden, and Haasrode, as well as the Pellenberg hospital. The Plancquaert Chapel was built at the end of the 19th century in honor of Georges Plancquaert, born in 1885, uncle of Monsieur De Boeck, and the only surviving child of a family of seven. It is a small chapel with a chamber—or fixed altar—dedicated to the Infant Jesus of Prague. The procession formerly stopped there on August 15th and Corpus Christi (June 20th). Originally, the chapel's façade was located directly on the street, and the aedicule was included in the property of the town clerk Jean-Baptiste Nélis, who built his house there in 1856. The property then passed to the Plancquaerts before remaining in the De Boeck family's possession to this day.
