More or Less? Our decision was quickly made: the Grote Netewoud has more trees than Minderhout. Eindhout was also an option, but that was a bit further away. And besides: is there any wood left in Eindhout? 😜 The Grote Netewoud amazed us with all the playful activity of those little creatures. On the Totterpad (1.6 km), we followed Bernard the beaver in his search for tracks, and we found them on the banks of the Grote Nete. Away from the Sunday bustle and finding the peace along the Grote Nete. Over inland dunes, past sandbanks, and over aerial roots, we playfully arrive at the Belse Hei. Sunday, a day of rest, and we enjoy God's work of creation. God created the world and saw that it was good. I think and am convinced that God also set His sights on Bel with its heathland that day. Belle Bel = perfect, nothing more to add. Simply enjoy all the beauty at our favorite spot, Sohnarr Sjel. Each season colors your view of the surroundings at this idyllic spot on the small heathland pond. Each season also has its own protagonists in nature. It's wonderful to spend time at the Belse Hei. The Bels Broek en Heide is a sub-area of the Grote Netewoud in the municipalities of Geel and Meerhout. It is located on the right bank of the Grote Nete River, here called the Meerhoutse Nete, and consists of drifting dunes, swamp forests, and heathland. Neighborhood playground in Bel with a balance course, climbing frame, slide, and amphitheater. During school hours, it serves as the school's playground.

The church is dedicated to Saint Lambert, but Saint Anthony is celebrated extensively here every year. Bel is the village of Saint Anthony, or "Toontje" as they call him. He is the patron saint of animals and is depicted with a pig. On Saint Anthony's day, January 17th, the pigs were slaughtered and the meat distributed among the poor. In Bel, there is a Saint Anthony celebration around this date. The priest blesses the pig heads in the church, the Belse Toontjeslied is sung, and the village animals are blessed.
