One of the many dolomite limestone rock formations in this valley. Vertical rock walls with a statue of Our Lady at the top, hence the name. Once erected by passing skippers on their flatboats, for protection, as the Ourthe River was a dangerous spot here.

Beautiful place with reflection. Beautiful views also of Comblain au Pont, the Ourthe valley, les Roches Noires and Les Tartines. In the park surrounding it there is an open-air museum with limestone sculptures.

The engineers who built this canal wanted to avoid river navigation as much as possible. They had a canal lateral to the Ourthe dug in the alluvial plain. This reduced the dangers of currents and shoals in the adjacent watercourse.
