Lake Pratignano is very scenically situated on a verdant plateau overlooking the Ospitale and Dardagna valleys. It is a very particular example of a peat bog, unique in all of northern Italy, as well as a direct testimony of the last ice age, dating back to almost 10,000 years ago. The area around the lake offers extremely suggestive landscapes. In spring and autumn it also hosts a large number of bird species that stop here to rest during their migrations. Here also grows Drosera Rotundifolia, a carnivorous plant that in summer attracts insects of all sizes to capture and trap them in its coils.
