A figure that has remained legendary, that of Vittorio. Doctor, naturalist, archaeologist, antique dealer, he is still remembered by the older ones as a distant and mysterious man, of infinite sensitivity and foresight. Vittorio Belli (Rimini 1870 – 1953), who felt the pine trees growing and loved them like children, who lived isolated in his bush in the company of a monkey, was the founder of Igea Marina. His was an ethical and urban project for a “Seaside City” in which the values of health and nature, culture and sport translated into the ambitious creation of a model holiday center. A green oasis equipped both for marine treatments, with a modern hydrotherapy facility, and as a cultural center, with a large library and a precious art collection. A vision perhaps too advanced for that place and time, but which was able to highlight, ante litteram, the need for an ecological reconversion of the values of the territory and the reconnection of the resources of culture to those of the environment.
