Giuseppe Giulietti (May 21, 1879 – June 20, 1953). The multifaceted personality of the union leader, better known as Captain Giulietti, is honored in our city by the monument dedicated to him in the city park on Via Destra del Porto in Rimini. The work by Gaetano Scapecchi was inaugurated on February 4, 1962, and among the speakers was the then-mayor, Walter Ceccaroni. The panel discussion entitled "Giuseppe Giulietti – The Seamen's Union, Yesterday and Today," held on June 20, included Gianluca Calbucci, a researcher at ISREC Rimini, who presented the union leader's biography. Andrea Montemaggi, historian and co-director of Ariminum, also participated. Enrico Poggi of FILT CGIL Genoa spoke about Giulietti's lifelong connection to the "Superba," and Isabella Pavolucci, General Secretary of the Rimini Chamber of Trade Unions, was also present. The new project for Piazzale Kennedy in Rimini was born from the idea of covering one of the most important Italian hydraulic works, offering citizens a new square on the sea, which today presents itself as a space for social aggregation. This area, once occupied by the mouth of the Ausa canal, was devoid of quality, despite being in a central position. The aim of Mijic Architects was to create a space that responded to the hydraulic and citizen needs. The project involved the construction of enormous underground tanks for collecting rainwater and above-ground technical rooms, covering them with ramps on which pedestrians can admire the sea (belvedere). Inaugurated in 2020 after 4 years of work, this real suspended "promenade" today represents the hinge between the seafront and the park system.

It is named after the doctor from Rimini who, together with the Baldini brothers, financed the creation of the first bathing establishment in Rimini (the “Stabilimento Privilegiato dei Bagni di Mare”) in 1843, thus marking the birth of this type of tourism in the city. This section is part of "Il Parco del Mare", the large redevelopment project of the Rimini seafront that, proceeding step by step, is transforming the 16 kilometers of Rimini waterfront into the largest natural area dedicated to well-being in Europe, with greenery, cycle and pedestrian paths, spaces for sports activities and games for children.
