Near Quasano, a hamlet of Toritto in the province of Bari, the Apulian Aqueduct cycle route crosses the Murgia countryside and becomes truly splendid. The surface is mostly gravel, so a gravel bike is necessary, if not a mountain bike.

A beautiful, undemanding route with beautiful views

One of the access doors, for those coming from Bari, to the historic center of Bitonto. The first images date back to the sixteenth century, while the reconstruction was carried out in 1621 by the master Giuseppe Dell'Aquila.

The church was one of the numerous religious buildings scattered in the countrysides of Bitonto and Bari, and is in the Apulian Romanesque style. Some scholars have hypothesized that it is the church of "Santa Maria de' Staginisio", mentioned in a document dated August 1190. The building is officially mentioned for the first time in 1488 in the red book of the University of Bitonto [ , together with the rock church of Sant'Angelo in Camerata, located a short distance away (of the latter, only the cave remains today). The elevation was completely rebuilt in 1585; further additions were made in 1805 by commission of Michelangelo Maffei, a rich Bitontino, administrator of the city and knight of the Order of Malta, as mentioned on a plaque.

The beauty of this cycle route, which hopes over time will become "official"

It is a beautiful adult coniferous forest. Although it is called the municipal wood of Bitonto Murgia of the City, it is many km away from it. It is a wood immersed in the Murgia nestled between the countryside of Ruvo si Puglia Altamura. It is mainly composed of Aleppo pine but there are also essences of eucalyptus cypresses.
