The Schwarzsee, also known as Lac Noir, is idyllically situated in the canton of Fribourg (Sense district) and is part of the Gantrisch Nature Park. Accessible for hikes or conveniently by chairlift to Riggisalp – with alpine huts and restaurants. Legends & Experiences: Themed trails with legends from the Sense region, mystical landscapes in the Breccaschlund valley, and spectacular ice palaces in winter attract visitors year-round.

Wonderful views on the way up the Schwarzenbühl pass in the heart of the Gantrisch Nature Park.

On the climb to Gurnigel you will enjoy breathtaking Alpine scenery, the road winding through meadows, dense forests and the mountainous landscape of the Gantrisch region. The climb offers stunning views of the Bernese Alps and, if you are hiking in late spring or summer, you will see wildflowers covering the hillsides, adding a splash of colour to your hike.

Very pretty, well-kept village. The water from the village fountain is very refreshing

When approaching the Gurnigel from the west, you cross the Kalte Sense, which accompanies you quite a bit further up the ascent.

A worthy ascent for the stunning views of the Gantrisch and the Thun lake. There are restaurants up here for a good refuel, but it does get busy in high summer.
