ハイステルホルツのシュッテAGレンガ工場は、20世紀初頭の北西ドイツで最も重要なレンガメーカーの1つでした。この会社は、特にミンデン地域において、今日までこの地域と人々に影響を与えてきました。家屋や通りの名前などがその証拠です。レンガ製品は、北ドイツ全域の建造物で使用されました。最終的に、それは起業家フェルディナント・シュッテの家族にも影響を与えました。彼は150年前にハイステルホルツレンガ工場の礎を築きました。創設者の玄孫であるレナテ・ノラーが、次の記事でこの歴史を追っています。

An impressive lock on the Weser River. If you're lucky, you might see a ship passing through.

Coming from the direction of Sulingen, it's rather unusual to cross such a large river/canal. So I stopped and lingered briefly on the footpath and took a nice photo with the dusk in the background.

The traditional brickworks at Heisterholz is still better known (since its takeover by Ziegelei Braas) under its former name "Tonwerk Heisterholz" or "Tonindustrie Heisterholz." For us cyclists, the view from the former jetty to the Weser River and the Weser floodplains is, of course, much more interesting and beautiful than the view of the factory premises (as is evident in the vast majority of photos). But please proceed with caution and maintain a safe distance from the edge of the quay wall!
