The history of this complex is linked to San Guglielmo da Vercelli, a hermit, who lived between the 11th and 12th centuries, who on his journey to Jerusalem stopped here to devote himself to meditation, thus giving up the pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Over the centuries the small original chapel was transformed into the current sanctuary, becoming the favorite destination of many devotees.
