Beautiful, I often go there with my daughter. Anyone who comes to Pisa must absolutely visit it.

Also known as Certosa della Val Graziosa, this former monastery of the Carthusian Order is located in the municipality of Calci, in the province of Pisa. In Baroque style, the building currently houses the Natural History Museum of the University of Pisa and contains some important works such as a "Nativity" by Giuseppe Bottani, the only testimony of the Company of the Virgin Mary of New Venice that has survived to this day.

On the top of Monte Verruca, at 537 meters above sea level, an ancient and decaying fortress dominates the Pisan plain and the Arno valley. According to legend, there is a connection – underground and secret – between the fortress and the center of the city of Pisa.

The Certosa is a place dear to all Pisans, located in the middle of Val Graziosa, so called for its amenity in ancient times. One part hosts the natural history museum managed by the university, while the rest of the convent structure is managed by the ministry (the state) and can be visited upon request (the custodians are very knowledgeable and kind, especially the boy with the long monk's beard).

The Verruca fortress rises in the municipality of Calci, in the province of Pisa, on the top of Monte Verruca. It can be reached by following the Firenze-Pisa highway, exiting at Cascina, then continuing towards Vicopisano. From the village, take the 'strada della Verruca' which starts from the village cemetery. Although largely unpaved, it can be traveled by car up to the foot of the rock where the Rocca stands. The Thermal Park, set in the middle of the green between centuries-old trees and Monte Pisano, offers a great variety of pastimes thanks to a beautiful swimming pool such as shows and cultural events especially during the summer evenings. Inside the park there is the characteristic church of San Martino al Bagno, in Romanesque style, which was used in the past, thanks to its sulphurous water, to treat skin diseases and which in 1363 was the setting for one of the most bloody battles between Pisa and Florence.
