A wonderful ascent! The narrow, well-paved road winds its way ever up the mountain. From S. Leonhard to Platt, there's hardly any traffic due to the narrow road. Much of the route is shaded.

What a magnificent climb. You are practically alone here. I had considered riding the Jaufenpass and did not regret riding up here. No traffic, no main road where you are overtaken, just pure cycling pleasure. Simply fantastic.

We started from the village of Tirof from the Jaufenstrasse junction bus stop. We started through the apple orchards in the direction of Merano. This is a short and comfortable round trip. We took the bus back. You can also take the chairlift from Merano up to Dorf Tirol or walk back along the Tappeinerweg.
