The Scaliger Castle of Malcesine was probably built before the birth of Christ, while other sources report a construction date of around 500 AD. The castle was destroyed by the Franks in 590 and subsequently rebuilt. Over the centuries, the rulers of this magnificent castle changed hands several times. In 1902, the castle was declared a national monument.

A beautiful, well-preserved castle. From there, you have a perfect view of the lake. However, we found the entrance fee to be expensive.

From here you have a great view down to Lake Garda. Further down the road is a nice snack restaurant.

The excellent path is very steep and paved with pebbles, it is better to take a detour via the tar road! The ruins on the rock are definitely worth a visit!
