On the Passo del Mercante, my father told me, that my grandfather met my grandmother. My grandfather was a young woodcutter who climbed the pass from Cittanova; and my grandmother was a shepherdess from Canalo Vecchio. They met by chance, and immediately argued: it seems that she didn't like the woodcutters, because they were too noisy and scared the cattle... But my grandfather, evidently made the difference, "maybe he was cute and she was very beautiful" and after the argument they made peace and fell in love.... Every time I'm in the area, I always go to the Pass to greet the memory of my grandfather 👴 and my grandmother👵 😊👋👋

Mandatory stop at the stall, for a sandwich, a glass of wine, a dessert or a coffee. The owner is very nice.

Marina di Gioiosa Ionica is nestled on the Ionian coast of Locride, known as the jasmine coast. Its history is deeply linked to Gioiosa Ionica, becoming an autonomous municipality in 1948. Its roots lie in the Greek colonizations of the 6th century BC. in Magna Graecia. It houses ancient treasures such as the Roman Theater and the Borraca Tower, built in the Byzantine age. With a fishing tradition and an important agricultural history, this location is today appreciated as a summer tourist destination for its golden beaches and crystal clear sea.

The Roccella seafront, extending for almost 4 km, is one of the jewels of the Locria Ionian coast. Starting from the Piazzetta delle Colonne and heading towards the port, you can observe various works of art. Dominating from above, the Pizzofalcone tower and the Carafa Castle stand out on the cliff.

An incredible stretch of road along the Gross Dam. It alternates between old asphalt and dirt sections. The views seem to come from an alpine national park, but in reality it is located a stone's throw from the lively and crowded coast of Siderno. Absolutely worth checking out!
