The hiking trail to Vinelz leads through the small town center of Lüscherz and climbs through newly built areas up to the Budligwald with the legendary Hofmannsflue. A long time ago, a young dragoon named Hofmann is said to have fallen to his death on his horse out of lovesickness. From the Hofmannsflue, a wonderful forest path winds through the dense pine and beech forest of the Krete towards Vinelz. On longer stretches, the path follows the "story path" - bilingual text panels with interesting and informative texts about the surrounding area. The forest thins out at several viewing points equipped with benches and you can enjoy wonderful views of Peter's Island, Lake Biel and the Chasseral.
