One of the most unusual fortifications, yet a technically brilliant solution, is the dam at Borghetto. This structure is a heavily fortified dam intended to impound the Mincio River and thus cut off the water supply to the city of Mantua, a plan that ultimately never came to fruition. The Scaligeri family commissioned the dam. The dam now serves as a bridge.

Easy, relatively short, quiet, almost completely asphalt. Recommended for anybody.

I did this tour 30 years ago, it was always my insider tip. A week ago I did the tour again, it's a great feeling every time. The river is a fantastic emerald green because of the heavy rainfall. Unfortunately it's overcrowded because of the many e-bikers. V.G.Walter
