The wedding forest in the municipality of Heidenau has been growing steadily for decades. The first planting took place in 1991 – by couples who were married in 1990. Today, the forest covers approximately 30,000 square meters and now comprises almost 400 trees, including 60 fruit trees in an idyllic orchard.

The Kuhmühlen recreation area is a popular destination because of the beauty and diversity of the landscape. The Töste, that's what it's only called in Tostedt. Otherwise it's the Dorer Mühlenbach, which is about 7 km long and flows into the Este. The landscape is very beautiful and in parts very rustic.
