Cascata de la Froda Nasca,(Castelveccana) Castelveccana: Froda Waterfall The Froda waterfall is one of the hidden beauties of the province of Varese. Although it offers a truly spectacular show, in reality it is not as well known and reported as it deserves. But this makes it even more special for those who decide to discover it. After taking the path on the edge of the SP7, you will immediately immerse yourself in a very fascinating natural setting. The route is suitable for everyone and the children will certainly enjoy feeling like little explorers. It is advisable to wear mountain boots: along the path you will have to pass a short ford. In winter, special attention must be paid to ice. Once you arrive under the waterfall, you will be amazed: with its height of about 100 meters, it is a real wonder not to be missed, especially after heavy rains. But even with a slender jet it will amaze you ... An iron rope allows you to approach the waterfall without slipping. Church of ss. Pietro e Paolo, San Pietro,(Castelveccana) The church was first mentioned in 1450. In the 17th century, until 1683, it was radically modified and partially rebuilt. Side chapels were built and a new presbytery was erected. A new extension of the building began around 1760, which was completed around 1780 and gave the church the new neoclassical appearance. In 1942 the interior decoration works began, directed by Paolo Rivetta and Giovanni Battista Pedrocca, which were completed in 1954. Text: Porto Valtravaglia Attraction

Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, San Pietro, (Castelveccana) It is not possible to establish a date of construction for the largest church of Castelveccana, popularly called San Pietro. From the parish archives and those of the Milan Curia, the earliest news dates back to 1250. What is certain, however, is that the church of San Pietro was visited by Gabriele Sforza in 1455, by a delegate of Carlo Borromeo in 1569, by San Carlo himself in 1578 and 1580, who detached it as a parish from Porto. Over the centuries, the church has undergone various changes, the most significant of which occurred in 1800: the façade, originally facing the lake, was moved to the east, where the apse had previously been. The style of the church is late Renaissance, with expressions of Baroque both in the interior and in the façade. A splendid example is the 18th century altar, which lends itself wonderfully to a polychrome series of marble inlays. The paintings are new and valuable, works by Rivetta, made between 1945 and 1953, while the decorations are by the Milanese cousins Monti. One of these altars, dedicated to the Madonna, is very old: according to tradition it was transported from the church of the castle that stood on the Rocca. This church, known as "San Celso in Arce", was demolished in 1596 by the abandonment of Cardinal Federico Borromeo. The church owes its name to the dedication to the holy apostles Peter and Paul. (from the book "Municipality of Castelveccana - a village along the way"). Church of San Rocco - Porto Valtravaglia The building was built in 1523 in the center of Porto Valtravaglia, perhaps as a sign of gratitude for the plague survived. It was in fact a simple open chapel, i.e. without a facade, equipped with only one altar on which a Madonna of Loreto was painted, surrounded by saints popularly invoked against plague. 1630 - 1633 complete reconstruction.

Church of S. Maria Assunta in Porto Valtravaglia The original church was built between the 11th and 12th centuries. It was later enlarged by extending the aisle by two spans. In 1544, a chapel was added at the behest of the notary Giroldino Porto. In the second half of the 16th century, it was decided to enlarge the church after the number of believers had increased significantly. By 1596, the bell tower was built. In 1925, the then parish priest Don Giovanni Pozzi decided to convert the church into a neo-Romanesque style. However, the only measures actually carried out were the raising of the bell tower and the construction of an entrance to the wall of the side aisle. Text: Wikipedia
