The military harbor of Peschiera had to be deepened by over 2 m in 1861 to accommodate a newly built gunboat for the Garda flotilla. When digging with a so-called paternoster excavator north of the Querini Bastion, numerous bronze objects were unearthed. These were kept by the Austrian first lieutenant Heinrich von Silber and the naval engineer Lorentz. Von Silber suspected that a ship with the items on board had once sunk here. You should definitely avoid the market with a bike. Luckily no one was in Bardolino at the moment, one in Lazise was enough.

Interesting old fortress town, old barracks, city gates, bridges. Lots of cafés and nice places to stop for refreshments.

Bella Italia - the entire lake and surrounding area is incredibly beautiful - it's hard to put it into words. Mountainous in the north, rather flat in the south, mostly quite coarse pebble beach and yet there is a wonderfully fine sandy beach along the east coast. Wonderful climate.
