Maria Plozner Mentil (Timau, Paluzza 1884 - 1916) was a Carnic bearer during the Great War. Left alone with her four children (her husband was sent to fight in the Karst), she found herself living among soldiers as the mountains surrounding her village, Timau, were transformed into battlefields. Despite a difficult situation, like many other local women, she responded to the army's call for volunteers to transport supplies from the rear to the front line. The Carnic porters were born who with their heavy panniers (filled with provisions, weapons and ammunition) climbed the slopes of Pal Piccolo, Pal Grande, Freikofel, Cima Avostanis and Passo Pramosio every day on foot. source: tourismFVG

Suggestive lake inside a basin. I saw it with a bit of cloud and I would gladly go back even to reach the top. The only flaw is the asphalt road instead of a nice path to reach it.

The beautiful lake can be easily circumnavigated. I recommend walking along the shore to admire the view from all angles.
