The little church of Madonna del Ciclista, in the Pianezzola district of the municipality of Marostica, is a favorite destination for those who cycle in the area. Inside the small building there are some local cycling relics, including some rainbow jerseys.

In the spring of 1916, when the Austro-Hungarians launched the 'Stafexpedition' in an attempt to invade the Po Valley, the quiet hamlet of Vallonara, like many other towns in the Vicenza foothills, was one of the immediate rear lines of the Asiago Plateau front. This passage was a constant coming and going of men, vehicles, and artillery sent to counter the grave threat, while refugees from the Plateau descended from the mountains in a mournful procession. It is estimated that more than 1,000,000 Royal Army soldiers passed through this point to and from the Plateau.
