The Treviso refuge is located in a picturesque position surrounded by large larches and fir trees on the eastern side of the Canali valley. It was built by the Dresden section of the DÖAV in 1897, calling it the Canali refuge. To underline the event, on the occasion of the inauguration on 26 August 1897, the famous A.G.S. consortium Raynor and J.S. Phillimore with the guides M.Bettega and G.Zecchini climbed a large and bold tower on the SW ridge of the Pala della Madonna calling it Torre Dresda. At the end of the First World War the refuge was handed over to the SAT as war booty, but a few years later it was definitively handed over to the Treviso section of the CAI which changed its name to the current Treviso refuge in Val Canali. The refuge is an ideal base for all ascents of the Canali valley, well placed in relation to the peaks of greatest mountaineering importance.
