On the Scala Fenicia, a total of 921 steps lead up the only footpath from Marina Grande to Anacapri. Along the way, you'll enjoy several magnificent views over the harbor and the Amalfi Coast, all the way to Mount Vesuvius and Naples. The path ends almost directly at the chairlift attraction.

Ancient descent

No question: it's exhausting without end 🥵. However, the view is breathtaking all the way - almost 1,000 steps - so once in Anacapri (sweaty) the crowded panorama points around Villa S. Michele become completely irrelevant, because one has already enjoyed much, much more along the way. You don't get the path for the best look, but you made it on your own and were rewarded with unforgettable looks. Be sure to bring water (no way to fill up the bottle until Anacapri) 🚰

The Blue Grotto is a cave whose entrance is a 1.5 meter high rock hole in the sea. The cave is about 52 meters long and 30 meters wide, the water inside is about 15 meters deep. Since daylight enters the grotto mainly below sea level reflected in the sea water, the water inside the cave shimmers in a peculiar blue hue. Max, 4 people have to lie in the boat to get into the cave. The gondolier has to watch for the right wave and then he pulls himself into the cave on a chain. The same also happens when exiting the cave. You have to lie on top of each other and the boatman pulls himself out with the chain. If the waves are too high then the cave will be closed.

Very nice route, best to walk from Annacapri to Capri.
