The church in Münchenbernsdorf, dedicated to Saint Mauritius, was first mentioned in documents in 1260. In the late Gothic choir room, which was renovated in 1907, there is the wonderful wood-carved altar "The Coronation of Mary". The year of its creation and its origin are known from the fact that at the bottom of the open shrine in the gold relief it says "in the year of the Lord 1505, this panel was completed on the eve of St. Margaret's Day by Valentin Lendenstreich (a student of Tilman Riemenschneider) in Saalfeld".
