アルプイユはアオスタ市のフラツィオーネ（行政区）で、町の北側の丘陵地帯、標高約1000メートルに位置しています。この村は、近くのシニャイェスと共に、サラス人（ローマ人の征服以前に谷に住んでいたケルト民族）が谷底よりも好んだと思われる、山の中腹にある集落群の一部を形成しており、何世紀にもわたって下の中心地とは異なる田舎の caractere を維持してきました。このアイデンティティ意識は非常に強く、過去にはアルプイユとシニャイェスの住民は、独立した自治体を設立するためにアオスタ市から分離しようとさえ試みました。居住地区は、平野から登ってくる道の沿いに配置された石と木造の家々で構成されており、牧草地、放牧地、広葉樹林に囲まれています。アルプイユからは、アオスタ盆地とその周囲の山々、すなわちエミリウス山、ベッカ・ディ・ノーナ、そして遠くにはグラン・パラディソの頂上の開けた景色を楽しむことができます。北風から守られた日当たりの良い立地は、歴史的に春と秋の放牧地帯となってきました。1327年にエトルーブルからアオスタの丘まで水を運んだ古代の灌漑用水路であるル・ヌフの終盤部分がここを通っています。

On this spectacular path north of the Aosta Valley capital you can admire the valley below and the imposing mountains in front of you, as you continue on the Cammino Balteo.

The hamlet of Arpuilles is a town that has around 500 residents, is rather well-kept and hosts numerous residential homes with excellent panoramic exposure.

The Ru Neuf canal originates from the Artanavaz stream at around 1250 m and was built in 1327 with the aim of irrigating the fields of the arid Aosta hill. Even today, various sections of the canal maintain their medieval character, continuing to perform the function of taking water from the stream and transporting it to the Aosta hill. The path begins at the former colony at Plan d'Avie in the municipality of Aosta, located about 8 kilometers from the center of the capital, and continues northwards to the Echevennoz hamlet of Etroubles.

The municipality of Gignod, located about 8 kilometers from Aosta, lies at 988 meters above sea level on a shelf on the slopes of Punta Chaligne, in the Gran San Bernardo valley. Numerous villages extend around the main nucleus of the town and integrate harmoniously into the mosaic of the landscape. The town occupies a key position along the route of the Via Francigena, a recently revamped route dedicated to hikers wishing to follow the ancient paths frequented first by the Salassi and later by the Romans, to then be used by medieval pilgrims heading to Rome. Today, Gignod has become a holiday destination for tourists in search of the tranquility of natural spaces, which offer priceless views of the Valpelline mountains and the majestic Swiss massif of the Grand Combin.
