The tower has a circular floor plan and consists of two large sections connected by a staircase carved into the thick surrounding wall. In 1412, the women of Alghero heroically defended this tower against an attack by the troops of the Viscount of Narbonne. In the 19th century, it became known as the Torre di Sulis after the Cagliari notary Vincenzo Sulis. He was imprisoned there from 1799 to 1821 for conspiracy and treason. The tower and the adjacent piazza have been a popular meeting place for years.

From this terrace overlooking the sea, dedicated to the famous Italian singer-songwriter and musician, you can enjoy a spectacular view, especially at sunset. In 1985, Giuni Russo faced the challenges of his record company's indifference towards the new album, leading to its release in mid-July in a less favorable market. Frustrated, Russo sought a mutual release from the record company, facing attempts to limit her artistic freedom, eventually signing with another, smaller label. In 1986, the delayed album "Giuni" was released, with the hit "Alghero", becoming one of his biggest singles.

The historic center of Alghero features many monuments of medieval architecture typical of Aragonese cities. Thick walls surround the center, which sits on a rocky outcrop. Narrow streets and stone stairways lead to squares and churches. There is a magnificent promenade that sits just a few meters higher than the coast, offering breathtaking views.
