9月 22, 2025, Monte Terminillo
From the summit of Mount Terminillo, 2,216 meters, you can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree panorama. You can admire the crests of Mount Elefante, Mount Brecciaro, Mount Valloni, Corno Grande, the Laga mountains, the Velino/Sirente massif, and on clear days even Mount Vettore and Gran Sasso. The view of the valleys below is fantastic, and from the highest point, it offers a unique panorama of the Sassetelli ridge, Mount Terminelletto, and the narrow saddle connecting the two peaks. On clear days, the view allows you to glimpse the magnificent mountains of the Central Apennines and the Gran Sasso.

12月 15, 2023, Arrone Historic Village
Arrone takes its name from its founder, a Roman nobleman who settled in this area in the 9th century AD, building a wooden castle around which a village slowly grew. The current appearance is the medieval one still dominated by the castle, now in masonry, which stands at the top of the hill. Arrone is included in the list of the "Most beautiful villages in Italy" and is located within the Nera river park. The municipal area is suitable for various sporting activities such as cycling, hiking, rafting and rock climbing. Don't miss the local specialty: river prawn broth and trout fillet.

12月 15, 2023, Santuario di Santa Maria della Foresta
The sanctuary of Santa Maria della Foresta is one of the four sanctuaries that celebrate the passage of San Francesco in the Reatina valley. According to some, it was precisely here that the Saint composed the Canticle of the Creatures. In this place there originally stood a small church dedicated to San Fabiano flanked by the priest's house alone. Legend has it that, during the period in which Saint Francis stayed here, many people from Rieti went to visit him, often picking bunches of grapes from the priest's vineyard. When it was time to collect the fruits for the harvest, the priest realized that there was very little left, nevertheless, encouraged by Saint Francis, he collected and harvested what little there was, however obtaining much more wine than in previous years. Of this episode, remembered as the "miracle of wine", traces can still be found inside the sanctuary: in fact, inside the domus there are the remains of a tank for pressing wine dating back to the period of the Saint's life.

The Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Foresta is one of the four erected by San Francesco. In the summer of 1225, at the invitation of Cardinal Ugolino (future Pope Gregory IX), Francis was invited to Rieti to take care of his eyes, as a much appreciated doctor was present in the city. Once in the city, however, the saint prefers to move to a secluded place and so he stays for more than fifty days in this sanctuary.

5月 26, 2022, Santuario Francescano di Poggio Bustone
I was very impressed by the Francis pilgrimage route, above all by the hospitality of the people, but also by the great poverty that prevails in the countryside, but they in particular give everything they have. I was traveling in winter and therefore dependent on private accommodation because the hostels were closed

4月 30, 2022, Cappella di San Francesco
One of the few saints who is also highly valued outside of Christianity is San Francesco, known in the German-speaking world as Francis of Assisi. Francis was born in Assisi in 1181/82 and died in 1226. In his youth as the son of wealthy parents he was a bon vivant, but later he turned to Christ. In the half-ruined little church of San Damiano, on the hillside outside the city walls of Assisi, he was praying one day and heard the voice of Christ coming down from the cross, urging him to “rebuild his church”. At first he took this request literally and restored the church building, later he came to realize that this is primarily about the church as the community of believers. Francis became a role model for many people, they joined him and the "Order of the Friars Minor" (Ordo Fratrum Minorum) of Francis of Assisi came into being. Today in the broad Franciscan religious family there are three male branches: the Franciscans, the Minorites and the Capuchins; and two females: the Franciscans and the Poor Clares. In addition, there is the "Third" or "Secular" order, which women and men who do not take the classic vows of the order (poverty, chastity and obedience) and continue to live in their family and their profession can join.

4月 30, 2022, Santuario Francescano di Poggio Bustone
Poggio Bustone is one of the four great Franciscan shrines in the Rieti Valley, about halfway between Assisi and Rome. The most famous of these is probably Greccio, the place where, on Christmas 1223, Saint Francis of Assisi (San Francesco) created a living nativity scene. But the other sites, such as Poggio Bustone here, are definitely worth a visit on the trail of this very prominent saint. A beautiful view over the Rieti valley from here can be found under the following hiking highlight: https://www.komoot.de/highlight/3808179
