This majestic and imposing tower gate was built in 1379 by the Sienese Governors, along with the city walls. It is in typically Sienese style, with a Gothic arch over the entrance, which still conserves its iron-clad wood fittings, restored in 1998. On the front are two emblems, the black and white "balzana" of Siena and that of the municipality of Buonconvento.

Museum of Diffused Art on the Via Francigena In collaboration with the I Cinque Archi Community Cooperative of Ponte d'Arbia and the Fili Intrecciati Association , for the Jubilee Year of 2025, a museum of scattered art was organized and promoted along the Siena stretch of the Via Francigena. The works were created over the years by sculptors (mostly Japanese) who participated in the annual sculpture symposium in Ponte d'Arbia and donated by them to the area. This has enhanced one of the most popular stretches for wayfarers and pilgrims: the Valdarbia. The Good Samaritan was created by Flavio Corsi.

The Porta Senese in Buonconvento is a majestic and imposing tower gate built in 1379 by the Sienese governors, together with the city walls. It is in typical Sienese style, with a Gothic arch above the entrance, which still retains its iron-clad wooden fittings, restored in 1998. Buonconvento also preserves a significant portion of the original walls that once defended the city against invaders. The walls and gate were built at the end of the 14th century. Seven towers of the 9 are still visible in the ramparts.

The name is due to the bridge that crosses the Arbia stream. The place has been documented since the early Middle Ages as it lies along the route of the ancient Via Francigena. Particularly in the itinerary of Sigeric, Archbishop of Canterbury, the place represented the fourteenth stage (Submansio) and was then called Arbia. The bridge that gives its name to the city was built by the municipality of Siena in 1388 and rebuilt in 1656 under Prince Mattia de' Medici, governor of Siena.
