In reality, this place is not so "flat" because, from when the slopes become less steep to when the descent begins, there will not even be a hundred meters ... but the environment is superb, high mountain, and makes up for the road that, especially towards Frassinetto, is not in such good condition. There is nothing, not a bar, not a fountain ... but it is worth stopping and admiring the splendid panorama. Going up from Frassinetto the slope, after the village, becomes discontinuous and challenging, more gradual if you go up from Colleretto Castelnuovo, where the road alternates beautiful hairpin bends in the woods ... however, it is not a gift from this side either!

It is said that, in ancient times, when the Cuceglio valley was shrouded in thick fog and silent legends, a shepherdess, lost among the rugged paths, found refuge under an ancient oak tree. In that solitary place, the Sorrowful Virgin appeared to her, wrapped in a cloak of light, who showed her the way back to her village. In memory of that miracle, the inhabitants of Cuceglio built a sanctuary on the hill, right at the point where the Virgin had appeared. Today, that sacred place, the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows, offers visitors not only a spiritual refuge, but also a spectacle for the eyes. Imagine yourself on that hill, with your gaze embracing the entire valley. The hills follow one another like waves of a green sea, dotted with ancient villages and cultivated fields. The wind whispers stories of times gone by, while the sun caresses the roofs of the houses and illuminates the bell tower of the sanctuary. The building, with its baroque architecture, stands majestically, witness to centuries of faith and devotion. The esplanade in front, with its solitary cross, invites contemplation and reflection. It is said that, on full moon nights, you can still hear the shepherdess singing, a distant echo of the miracle that gave rise to this magical place. Visiting the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Sorrows in Cuceglio means immersing yourself in an atmosphere of peace and spirituality, where the beauty of the landscape blends with history and legend.

San Giorgio lies on the slopes of the hilly area that closes the morainic amphitheater of Ivrea to the south; the municipal territory extends into the vast plain created by the Orco torrent. The birth of the village is connected to the events of the early medieval curtis regia: this is mentioned in ancient subalpine maps since the 9th century and today it can be located in the hamlet of Cortereggio.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, the Ducal Castle of Agliè is perhaps the most significant architectural work in the Canavese area. The current appearance of the majestic castle is the result of four major construction phases, which led it to change its shape over the centuries, transforming it from a fortified building from the Middle Ages to a true royal residence, as can still be admired today.
