A long stretch of road through a beautiful forest

I totally agree that it looks post-apocalyptic! However, I would attribute the fact that it was eerily empty in mid-August - to mid-August. :) Otherwise, it is a normally lively town with visible scars of the war, and with a wonderful promenade along the Kupa.

The land along the Sava is a swampy area, a flood plain covered throughout history by rich oak forests. Just like the conservatories that we will see shortly, the houses were raised on stilts above the ground due to the risk of flooding. If necessary, the house could be disassembled, taken to another position and assembled again.

The vessel Vodomar docks in Drenovo Boka. It is a 15-meter-long scaffold that is used for educational and tourist purposes for driving along the Sava River. Vodomar can accommodate up to 12 people.

Martinska Ves is a small village on both sides of the river Sava. Surprisingly, the first (and only) bridge between "left" and "right" Martinska Ves was built just 20-something years ago. On a positive side, the hanging bridge is very elegant and primarily built for bikers and pedestrians - as it should in the 21st century. 😎

A chapel in the middle of nothing.

Sisak has a certain post-apocalyptic charme. As I visited it in mid August, the city centre resembled the famous duel scenes from western movies, with completely empty and silent streets. Minus the thumbleweed, LOL. (On a second look, I did notice a couple of locals hiding in the shadows and drinking their coffee. It's Croatia after all.)
