9月 5, 2025, Col Lacroix
It marks the Italian-French border and can be reached from Italy in an hour and 45 minutes from the Jervis refuge, with a path that climbs through the woods without particular difficulties, to finally emerge onto alpine meadows.

This climb to Sestriere follows the same route used by the Giro d’Italia for its individual time trial in 1992, which was won by Miguel Indurain.

A long road that is unpaved in the upper part, connects the Chisone valley (municipality of Pramollo) to the Germanasca valley (municipality of Perrero) and the Lazzarà hill is its highest point at 1595 meters. Destination of beautiful walks and bike rides, but it can also be reached by car if the road is not icy. A few meters away there is the green big bench

Tough climb alternating stretches in the woods and stretches on asphalt, but the view once you reach the hill is worth the effort.

8月 14, 2024, Col Lacroix
At the pass itself, there is a small customs post, restored in the 50s but unfortunately already in ruins again. This pass was a high place of passage, very busy, between the valley of the Prá (Italian) and the valley of the Guil (French). The landscapes are sumptuous. It is recommended, if you are on the French side, to have the most varied views, to go up from the Echalp, and go back down towards the Monta, then take the path along the Guil to reach the Echalp. Very beautiful hike, path without any technical difficulty.

On the way there are many fountains for the hot days. If Sestriere is in sight you still have to fight a good 4km.

6月 13, 2022, Colle Vaccera
Colle Vaccera, although very popular with motorized tourists, is still worth the effort of the climb for the excellent view of the surrounding peaks (when there is no fog). Do not miss the short climb to Monte Castelletto, following the trail (initially grassy) that climbs centrally on the ridge, then moves to the right side of the same and then continues to below the summit, reachable with a very short walk. Completing the tour on the right side, there are two alternatives: - A single track that starts near the panoramic terrace and crosses the entire slope up to the trees, intercepting a dirt road (S2 then S1) - The dirt road that goes back to the hill on the opposite side of the ridge (S0)

At 2,299 meters above sea level, the Col Lacroix marks the border between France and Italy. There are the remains of a Napoleon refuge built between 1857 and 1858 under Napoleon III, and destroyed during the Second World War.
