Oasis of peace and beautiful view of Briga Gozzano and Borgomanero

In the area, once covered with vineyards, you can easily notice the remains of dry stone walls, some terraces, and the large network of cobbled mule tracks wide enough to allow the passage of ox carts.

On this panoramic hill (it is better to go there on a clear day to admire the surroundings), the building of the Oratory of San Colombano is visible even from a distance. The first certain information about a primitive construction of the oratory dates from 1140, a period when it was probably inserted in the building of the castle of the counts of Biandrate, interesting remains of which are visible near the church, the current building in instead dates from 1594 and has of course undergone modification and restoration works over time (works not always done correctly...), the last in 1973.

The Castellazzo stands on a hilly terrace, which divides the Agogna valley from that of the Sizzone. This area has been inhabited since the Iron Age: in fact the surface reconnaissance, conducted in August 1997, has returned material from the Proto-Golasecchian age. Certainly crossable in summer. When crossing, you can make a circular route out of a path! Walking shoes are essential!
