Perhaps the toponym Sass Pizz deserves an explanation: Sass is stone, rock; Pizz means on. It was the place where, in ancient times, large bonfires were made for some Celtic festival, a tradition that has continued over time. The place is clearly visible from all the surrounding areas and was perhaps chosen for this. It is still used today, during the Christmas period, for a gigantic comet.

The view of Lake Maggiore is there, there is no question. But in my opinion it's not worth the climb. There are better views without making a lot of effort. Perhaps I reached it after a long ride and I was too tired ... I recommend walking towards the Sasso del Pizzo instead for a wonderful view.
