Gottasecca is a beautiful village located on the ridge that divides the Bormida Valley from the Uzzone Valley. It can be reached with five, very pleasant km from Camerana, with average gradients of 8%, the climb from the Uzzone Valley is more challenging, because the first km after the Valle village exceed double figures. In any case, once you arrive, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Bormida Valley and the surrounding hills. The area between Gottasecca and Prunetto is also crossed by some pleasant MTB itineraries (signposted "MountainBrick" mainly on dirt/forest roads and difficulty from S1 to S3 (check first because years ago some sections were obstructed by fallen trees due to strong winds)

The Sanctuary is dedicated to the Mother of Divine Grace and stands where the Madonna appeared to a young deaf and dumb shepherdess, healing her. The beautiful church is also immersed in a fascinating landscape, it is worth a visit.

Very smooth climb, never too difficult.

Leaving Gottasecca, continuing towards Saliceto you arrive at the suggestive clearing of the sanctuary, a truly beautiful place, ideal for stopping and for refilling with water (there is a fountain near the church). The area is surrounded by greenery, pleasant because it is secluded, shaded and quiet, it is also an important crossroads of paths, both coming from Gottasecca (some of Gottasecca's "mountain bricks" reach here), and heading towards Camerana. Others start from here and descend towards the Uzzone valley or, keeping parallel to the ridge, end up above Saliceto. the track that I followed is precisely a forest track, quite well maintained, which with some ups and downs leads to the vertical of Saliceto, to then continue, going up a stretch, up to above Cengio. The only contraindication when it has rained recently... there is a lot of mud!

In the past, one of the sixteen parish churches of the diocese of Alba stood in this place; the building that we can admire today is a remaking of the seventeenth century. This place is suitable for spending a day surrounded by nature and for picnics.

Small medieval village in the heart of the Alta Langa, a stone's throw from Alba, immersed in the green hills, among hazelnut groves and vineyards, the ideal place for those who love outdoor sports, contact with nature, good food and good wine.

Already inhabited in pre-Roman times, the area of Cortemilia was known as Cohors Aemilia in Roman times. In the Middle Ages the town developed around the fortress of which portions of the walls and the cylindrical tower remain visible even from afar and which dominates the town. The city center is divided in two by the Bormida river, thus originating the two districts of San Michele and San Pantaleo, which take their names from their respective churches. noteworthy is the former Franciscan convent, which is said to have been commissioned by St. Francis himself who, according to what is said, passed through Cortemilia. Currently the town is renowned both for the production of the "tonda gentile" hazelnut, and for the terraces planted with vines, from which the Dolcetto is obtained.

This church, despite its very "normal" appearance, boasts a thousand-year history: it was in fact part of the sixteen churches belonging to the ancient diocese of Alba (we are talking about the surroundings of the year 1000) and in fact, from ancient documents, it is cited starting from the year 998 AD. Nowadays, however, almost no traces remain of the ancient parish, except in the foundation of the bell tower, as the entire building was demolished and rebuilt in 1600. The interior, with a single nave, has many decorations, which cannot be visited. freely because the church has been closed for years due to the repeated thefts of works of art. A cursory fact: the church is located in the municipality of Gottasecca, and the curious name of this town derives from the poverty of water which, apparently, has always plagued this area of the upper Langa!
