Primordial places

"Historical" public garden in the northern part of the city, consisting of a "figure eight" of tree-lined avenues, which provide nice shade in the hot season, a gymnastics area, a play area, and a nice central lawn. It is located between the municipal sports field and the area of the Salera hotel. The fountain at the northernmost point is convenient. Nice place for a break - or to take the kids for a bike ride without fear, they can spend the day on those avenues! (At least, I spent my days there as a child...)

The most classic route to climb to Viatosto: from Salera over the highway overpass, and up to the little church. I wore out my wheels as a kid, and I still find it beautiful, with its ridge road and its views of the surrounding hills.

In itself the bridge over the Cavour canal is the classic reinforced concrete bridge without art or part. About twenty meters away however there is the bridge/dam of the Subsidiary Canal, both built by Senator Farini to increase the capacity of the Cavour canal fed by the waters of the Po (Chivasso) with the abundant waters of the Dora river (Saluggia)

One of the iconic and classic climbs towards the hamlet of Viatosto near Asti. Less than a kilometer from the intersection with Valmanera road to the little square of the bar. Always a beautiful road.

The "classic" road for me to get up and down Viatosto. One step away from the city and with almost zero traffic since it is open to residents. In the image of July 2024, the pouring rain of a Sunday in early July.

Votive chapel at the intersection of Valmanera and Caramagna streets. The latter is an excellent connection route with the Valgera and Valmaggiore areas. All areas very popular with Asti cyclists.
