The Asiago train station was the terminus of the 22km railway line which, from 1910 to 1958, connected the Vicenza plain (Piovene Rocchette) to the Sette Comuni plateau, stopping at several small intermediate stations. The Asiago Military Memorial and Ossuary stands majestically on Leiten Hill (pronounced "Làiten"), where the ancient district of the same name once stood, destroyed in the First World War and never rebuilt. To provide the building materials, 15 stone quarries were opened within a 20km radius. Inside the monument is a small museum with interesting artifacts from the Great War and a description of the events on the plateau.
