The Castle is a typical military artifact of the Middle Ages and represents one of the best examples of a castle structure in the Veneto. The origins of this monumental fortified work probably date back to the beginning of the 10th century, at the time of the Hungarian invasions, on the initiative of Berengario I, King of Italy. As shown by a diploma of Frederick Barbarossa, the first feudal lords were the Sambonifacio family who held the Castle until the beginning of the 13th century.
