In Lake Carezza once lived a beautiful water nymph. She often sat on the shore, braiding her blond hair and singing softly to herself. The sorcerer of Masaré heard her singing and fell in love with the mermaid. He risked all his power to abduct her, but the water nymph was never caught. So the sorcerer asked his friend, the witch Langwerda, for help. Langwerda advised him to disguise himself as a jeweler, draw a rainbow from the Rose Garden to the Latemar mountain, and then go to Lake Carezza to lure and abduct the nymph. The sorcerer followed her advice but forgot to disguise himself. The water nymph marveled at the brilliance of the rainbow and the many precious stones; however, she also noticed the sorcerer hiding on the shore and suddenly disappeared back into Lake Carezza. From that day on, she was never seen again. The sorcerer was so enraged that he threw the precious stones into the lake.

The Lavazè pass, at an altitude of 1,807 metres, connects the Fiemme valley in Trentino with the Ega valley in Alto Adige. This area is renowned for Nordic skiing, with around 80 meters of trails dedicated to cross-country skiing. The lake is calm and the views are fantastic. For running, the pass offers easy, well-maintained trails. Even if it gets crowded, there are many routes available and as you get further away, you will find fewer people. You have several options of routes, both flat and uphill.
