The facility extends over 252 meters and consists of nine Kaplan bulb turbines with a total output of 168 MW. The low-rise design of the powerhouse, which blends seamlessly into the surroundings, is particularly striking. A cycling path runs directly past the power plant, offering both close-up views and photo opportunities. For nature lovers, the fish bypass, opened in 2020, is a highlight, as it allows fish safe passage upstream and supports the ecological sustainability of the power plant. The surroundings along the banks of the Danube are particularly attractive for cyclists who want to enjoy the combination of technology, landscape, and nature.

An impressive facility and also an impressive building. The Abwinden-Asten power plant is a run-of-river power plant, belongs to the Austrian Danube power plants and was built between 1976 and 1979. Nine sets of machines in the machine house supply electricity to the public power grid. The standard working capacity is 995 million kWh per year.
